Paintings & Photos
Paintings and Photos Overview
The paintings have all been done in oil. Many show scenes from Italy, where Elizabeth has lived part of the year for the past two decades; the rest are from Maryland, Maine, California, and Nova Scotia. The photographs likewise were taken by Elizabeth and Sarah in a variety of places. All have been put into four groups: weather and seasons; water; people and animals; and Italy. Many of the scenes show transitions and unusual juxtapositions, such as the fresh spring snowfall on olive trees shown in the picture to the left. View Gallery.Publications
Publications
Elizabeth has written a number of books and articles in the field of anthropology. Most of them concern health related topics, including nutrition, health beliefs in Italy, maternal and infant care, fascist biological politics and demographic policies, and aging. Some of her writings about older-age Italian bicyclists have appeared in newspapers and magazines. Recent work includes studies of language and literature, including the metaphorical content of scientific texts (see Works in Progress).
